Message from Chancellor and Charities Appeal Chairman Al Girard
Brothers, we are about to embark on our annual Charities Appeal. Last year
Father Bonner Council had the highest sales in all of Alberta/NWT, and we not only intend to be
number one in sales again, but we intend to set a new record. To do that, we will need your
help. If each one of us takes two or more books to sell to colleagues, co-workers, acquaintances, friends,
relatives and neighbours our campaign will be a success. You will be called upon to help, so
please do what you can. It's quite easy: Just say, "The Knights of Columbus are raffling off a Lincoln and a
Ford F150. Tickets are just 3 for $5 or $20 for a book."
Yes, this year there are two vehicles up for grabs, so the tickets should
practically sell themselves.
Brother Paul Liber has booked the malls for us. Here is the schedule for Mall Sales:
- JAN. 7 TO 13 - BONNIE DOON
- JAN. 14 TO 19 - SOUTHGATE
- APR. 8 TO 14 - SOUTHGATE
- APR. 15 TO 20 - BONNIE DOON
Brother Arnold Lorenz will be asking for mall sales volunteers. The shifts are easy - only three hours per shift, so if you are available to help out, please consider taking a shift or two.
We made a pledge to donate $5,000 per year for five years to the Cornerstone of
Faith Campaign to help finance the building of the new seminary. From last year's sales we
have the funds which will enable us to make our fourth installment, and the sales from the upcoming
campaign will enable us to fulfill our obligations next year. We get approximately 30% of the money
generated by our sales.
You will be asked to take books to sell. Please do your part.
