During the Christmas season, we hustle and bustle to prepare for the most joyous time of the year. We perceive this as a time to remember a tiny babe that will grow up to be the Saviour of the world.
One of my favourite Christmas carols points to this mystery of the Saviour, our God, become a man. The carol begins with this verse:
I wonder as I wander, out under the sky,
How Jesus the Saviour did come for to die
For poor or’n’ry people like you and like I.
I wonder as I wander out under the sky.
During this Christmas season, I challenge you to go out among the stars and to wander and wonder at the great gift that is bestowed upon us. I know that the weather is cold but the walk in the stillness of a cold winters night, is a great way to remember and meditate on Christ. Give some time for silence and wonder as you prepare for this Christmas season.
