Deputy Grand Knight’s message — January 2014

Brother Knights of Fr. Bonner Council,

Happy New Year to you and your families! May God bless you throughout this new year and beyond!

At the December 2013 Council meeting, Bro. Paul Liber, a Past Grand Knight of our Council, stepped up and indicated his willingness to serve as Grand Knight for the remainder of the fraternal year, and was elected unanimously — no doubt an indication of the delight all those present felt at Bro. Paul’s generous act. Bro. Paul brings wisdom, experience, and knowledge to the role. Brothers, please join with me in lending Grand Knight Paul the fullest support possible by being involved in the activities of the Knights of Columbus.

• If you are a First Degree member, note that there are Major Degrees exemplifications upcoming on February 1 and May 31. Please consider completing your Second and Third Degrees. Brothers who have attained the Major Degrees are eligible to serve as Council officers.
• The Charities Appeal campaign continues: Help us to sell raffle tickets (each book has 8 tickets × $5) to friends, colleagues, family members. The main prizes are a car and a truck, and there is still time to meet the deadline for the early-bird prize ($10 000 cash). There are a few dates coming up where we will be at Southgate and Bonnie Doon malls. Please contact Bro. Al Girard if you can help in any way.
• Come out to assist with meal preparation and service at the Marian Centre. The Knights are signed up for several dates and require several volunteers.
• The next Knights pancake breakfast is Sunday, January 26, and the annual Family Pasta Dinner follows on February 8. Your assistance with these events would be much appreciated!
