FAMILY PASTA DINNER AND DANCE 2012
This event started off with ticket sales
handled by GK Al Girard and yours truly.
We sold or complemented around 220 tickets, just a few less than 2011.
Real and Blandine purchased most of the
food on Thursday and picked up the last minute items on Saturday morning. Friday afternoon Real, Blandine, Esther
Winlinger, Rose and I did a lot of the food preparation, including making the
pasta sauce, pre-boiling the pasta, washing and cutting the lettuce, cutting
the cake and pineapple.
Saturday set-up was a bit more interesting
this year as the hall was also booked for a Reconciliation meeting. Paul Liber, Daryl and Ryan Fenrich, Marion
Hrynew and Al Girard came at 10:00 am and set up about 1/3 of the tables. Flavian Barlage again did his awesome quality
control. At 2:30 Daryl, Ryan, and Rachel
Fenrich, Dave, Jacob and Dawson Wehage, Marion Hrynew and Al Girard came to
complete the set-up. The table centres
were organized by Rose. During this time Real, Blandine, Murray Yaschuk, Ken
Walker, Klaus Klein and Jeanette Liber worked on the final food preparation.
For the dinner, Robert and Mary Tomusiak,
Ken and Rose Vincent and Ken Walker efficiently brought the food from the
kitchen to the buffet tables and looked after the coffee and juice. Table service was provided with big smiles
from Evelyn McQuaid, Scaria Anthony, Thomas Muring, Ramon Alanis, Binu
Kurisinkal and Baby Joseph.
Thank you to Father Roger for a very beautiful blessing before dinner.
The “piñata bashing” was supervised by David Wehage and his family. They did a great job keeping order with the many children. Speaking of children, the children really enjoyed themselves at the dance. The band of Hoffman and Brown said they thoroughly enjoyed providing the music as they were thrilled to see so many children and adults dancing.
We can’t forget the bar service which was
handled in a very pleasant way by Edith and Morris Baranecki with help from
Paul Liber.
Again we had a marvelous clean-up crew
including, Steve Hughes, John Murphy, Don Murphy, Ken Walker, Augustine
Kurisinkal, Dinin Kurisinkal, Eric Berube, Deogratias Rwengaza, Kevin Imlay,
Ian Imlay, Colin Imlay and Colleen Imlay, and of course, Real Demers.
THANKS TO ALL the volunteers. Many did more than one task by helping out as needed. Kudos to the many Knights and their families for making this a huge success.
