Grand Knight’s message — February 2016
Brother Knights, Ladies, and families,
In the blink of an eye, we’re into February.
We had a good turnout at our Second Degree Exemplification on Wednesday, January 27. A total of 16 Brother Knights (14 from our Council) were advanced to the Second Degree and now can move on to the Third Degree at any upcoming opportunity. I hope that our Council can host another Second Degree sometime. This is a great way to promote all Knights to advance to full Knighthood.
The beginning of Lent with Ash Wednesday on February 10 brings upon us the time of preparation for the commemoration of our Lord’s Passion and Resurrection. Let us pray for a continual conversion of our hearts, that we may shake off the chains of slavery to sin and death, and ask for God‘s bountiful mercy.
This month has our Council’s Knights involved in the following:
- The Family Pasta Dinner and Dance on Saturday, February 6 is sold out and will doubtless be the most energetic event of the year (think of all those children!). If you are able to help out with hall set-up, service during the dinner, or clean-up that would be great — please contact Bro. Arnold Lorenz. We are especially in need of a few more volunteers who can help with the final clean-up (approx. 8:00–11:00 PM).
- Charities Appeal ticket sales, February 1–7 at Southgate Centre, in time for the early-bird draw. Thanks to all who signed up to take one or more shifts.
- Fr. Andrew has asked our Council to lead the Stations of the Cross on Friday, February 12 at 7:00 PM.
- Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, February 28.
You’ll be very soon hearing more from us by phone and/or e-mail about these and other upcoming events.
Thanks again to all who get involved in whatever small or big way. You are the difference-makers!
Fraternally yours,
Bro. Jeremy Sit
