Grand Knight’s message — March 2015
Brother Knights, Ladies, and families,
As I look out the window, I see that the sun is shining in a sky of blue, the snow is melting rapidly, and I know that soon the trees, grass, and flowers will burst forth with new life. Winter has passed and spring is coming. (We had a pretty mild winter in Edmonton this year, you must admit).
During this Lenten season, we make time for fasting and penance, prayer, and almsgiving — all in praise and honour for our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Heavenly Father knows us better than we know ourselves, and sensing our needs, sent to us His only begotten Son. We, who are about to be sold into eternal slavery of sin and death, have been saved — how? God has purchased our freedom by sending Jesus to take our place and lay down His life for us, so that we might live. A beautiful chapter in the eternal truth of our salvation, and this isn’t even the whole story… Let us together ask God for conversion of our hearts that we may do good works in His name and spread the Good News of His Mercy.
This past weekend of March 14/15 we held our spring membership recruitment drive. On the evening of Thursday, March 26, we’ll be holding a First Degree Exemplification to welcome new Brother Knights to our Council. As a current member of the Council, you are welcome to attend too. Do you know any potential candidates? Please talk to one of our membership team (Bro. Paolo Festa-Bianchet and Bro. Wally Streit).
Our Council also seeks Brother Knights to serve as directors and officers. For directors for the various program activities (e.g., Church Activities Director or Youth Activities Director), all Brother Knights in good standing who have an interest in helping co-ordinate various programs and activities are qualified to serve. For officer positions (e.g., Warden or Trustee), we need Brother Knights who are Third Degree members.
For those of you who have not had a chance to complete the Second Degree and Third Degree Exemplifications, please mark your calendars for Saturday, April 11. More details to come soon.
It’s a busy time of the year with many activities. (Lots of stuff in this month’s newsletter!) How can I get you involved? As that well-known pop song says: Here’s my number (below) — Call me maybe?
Fraternally yours,
Bro. Jeremy Sit
