Greetings Ladies
and Brother Knights,
June
is here and with it comes hot weather, lush landscape and our final Council
meeting before summer (with our Council election.) I would like to thank our
Nominating Committee of Past Grand Knights Bro. Michael Jette and Bro. Ken
Vincent for their efforts in proposing a full slate of Officers for 2009-2010. To
Steve Hughes and the New Council Executive, Congratulations on your
appointments. If you are considering a position there is still time to let your
name stand, contact the committee for more information.
Remember
to keep in our prayers Brother’s Jack Gukert & Mario Clara who passed away
recently. Both Jack and Mario were very active in our Council. Remember that “Charity
Begins at Home” and offer our assistance when we can and keep their families in
our prayers.
June
not only marks the end of another Columbian Year, but also marks the end of two
years of incredible devotion to our order by two great Brothers from our
Council. Worthy State Deputy Wally Streit and Worthy District Deputy Lou
Normand will be completing their terms as of June 30th. These two
gentlemen have taken our District and our Jurisdiction to a new level. On
behalf of the Father Bonner Council, THANK YOU! Your successors will have a
tough act to follow.
Welcome
to Brothers Norry Lee, Jeff Dunnill and Brian Vail who became new Knights in May.
As well I would like welcome Brothers Andrew Tarnowski and Leon Seiferman. I
encourage you all to introduce yourselves and show them your support. State
Deputy Wally has challenged all Brothers in our jurisdiction to “SPRINT TO THE
FINISH”. If you know of a Catholic Gentleman who may be interested, invite him out
for a coffee and introduce him to our great order, or have one of the Membership
committee meet with him. There are several First Degrees available till the end
of June.
June 13th will be the Installation of Council Officers and the Awards night BBQ. The menu will consist of BBQ steak, potato, baked beans, Caesar salad, and desert. Tickets are $15.00 and need to be purchased in advance from Bro. Arnold Lorenz so the food can be ordered.
On September 11th the 3rd Annual Father Bonner Charity Golf will be once again held at the Cougar Creek golf course. This premier event sells out quick. To register, volunteer or to donate, contact Brothers Ken Schwartz, Mitch De la salle or James Wilson.
On September 12th,
2009, St. Thomas More Parish will be celebrating its 40th
anniversary. Father Sylvain and the Parish council have formed a small
committee that will be organizing the celebrations for this event. If you are
interested in participating on the committee or volunteering for that day, contact
Bro. Real Demers.
June 9th will be our last Council meeting before the summer break. Typically the last meeting is a short one. This allows us to have a longer Fraternal gathering afterwards. After the meeting there will be sandwich trays, refreshments and multiple gift cards for Pennies for Heaven. I encourage you all to attend.
As this will be my final Grand Knight’s Message, I would
like to say my term has been an memorable one. Along the way, I have made many
new friends and sad fully, I have lost a few. There have been highs and lows
and a few accomplishments. I would like to thank the entire Membership for
their support and encouragement without which my term would have not have been
as enjoyable. As I move on to the position of Chancellor, my commitment to the
Council will remain with my continued involvement in as many council activities
as I can.
