Habitat for Humanity Build – September 21, 2013
On Saturday Sept. 21st Father Bonner’s Team of Twenty Five Knights, spouses and friends of Knights participated in a one day build at Canada’s Biggest Habitat Build “Neufeld Landing”.
We had committed 25 site workers and we had 100% - 25
workers, even though one of the workers was the writer who was pleased to
participate.
After the workers were all logged in and had the safety course we donned construction boots, hard hats, vests and safety goggles. Then we were assigned mini teams and work areas.
Real Demers aided by his wife Blandine and Eileen Streit prepared and served lunch including tasty Real’s secret Chili on a bun and cake.
The weather was great and as the morning wore on we removed sweaters, then jackets, then many of us sweated a bucket under the hard hats.
The quality of our work was acceptable as we did not get fired. In fact Kim Manderson the Volunteer Coordinator indicated that our group was one of the best organized and worked exceptionally well together.
Our site workers included: Wally Streit, Max Wan, Pat Moric, Morris and Edith Baraniecki, David Wehage, Paolo Festa-Bianchet and Hilda Asafo-Akowvah, Klaus Klein, Lou Normand, Tom Spiller, Dean Rokosh, Scaria Anthony, Andrew Taranowski, Ken and Rose Vincent, Patrick McQuaid. Friends of Knights included: Rod Heming, Cheryl Fisher, Priscilla Asamoah, Daniel Troiani, Bill Meade, Angelina Meade and Dirk Wiedeman. Great Job Team Father Bonner, for a job well done.
Brother Al Girard had to dress up with construction gear so he could be our Team photographer.
Many Thanks to the Construction Team, the Lunch Team and Brother Al Girard.
We had the pleasure of doing a little of God’s work on the largest Habitat Build in Canada.
Thanks Again
