Seniors Social December 3, 2011
Every year our Seniors Social just seems to get better and this year was no exception.
We had a great set-up team consisting of Peter Ouelette, Dave Wehage, Marion and Patricia Hrynew, Lou Normand, Al Girard, Daryl and Ryan Fenrich, and doing his final “quality control” was Flavian Barlage.
Thanks to Paul Liber, Dennis Heber and Rose Lorenz for putting the red napkins in the wine glasses. It is a tedious job but it sure looked nice.
Paul and Jeanette Liber spent hours cutting out the little red napkins that provided the background for the treat on the bread and butter plates.
The table centres were provided by Jeanette Liber and were expertly displayed by Anne Gau.
The menu planning, food purchasing and food preparation were exceptionally well done by our group of hard working ladies: Jeanette Liber, Louise Schurman, Pat Choma, Bev Cleave and Eveyln McQuaid.
The food preparation was assisted by Dennis and Lorraine Heber and yours truly peeling a 100 pounds of potatoes and Pat McQuaid and Nelson Choma cutting and dicing veggies, ham etc. Nelson’s finger tips took several days to heal from grating the many carrots by hand. The turkeys were adeptly carved by Pat McQuaid, Marcel Labbe and Stan Wachowicz.
Service from the kitchen to the buffet tables was efficiently handled by Robert and Mary Tomusiak and Ken and Rose Vincent.
Coffee and juice service was looked after by Cliff Bowman with help from others as needed.
Table service was courteously provided by Marion and Patricia Hrynew, Sionnain and Jackie McNally, Kurt Paterson, Thomas Muring, Antony Scaria and Binu Kurisinkal (Antony Kurisinkal’s son).
The clean-up crew was exceptional; Antony and Augustine Kurisinkal barely stopped while doing the initial plate clean-up. The dish pit crew was a marvel to see – the crew consisted of Real Demers, Steve Hughes, David and Ryan Lacy, Tom Spiller and Eric Berube. This crew kept Blandine Demers and Elizabeth Hughes ‘just-a-hopping’ to get the dishes put away.
The bar staff of Paul Liber, Nelson Choma and Don Schurman again provided exceptional service to the attendees.
I would like to thank Ann Gukert, the Schurmans, Sharon Langley and the Knights for providing the many door prizes; Father Andrew for saying grace; Grand Knight Al Girard for helping with the ticket sales and being the MC; and to ALL who helped make this such a success.
