Worthy Brothers,
I have received a letter from Deputy Supreme Knight which I have scanned and attached to this message.
After reading the concerns, I may have a solution. Does the Pregnancy Crisis Center have a Medical Doctor on their Board of Directors? If not, is there a Knight somewhere who would volunteer to serve in an advisory capacity? That might be all that is needed to dispel the legality fears that have stalled this project.

Worthy Grand Knight!
The Edmonton Pregnancy Crisis Centre HAS Dr. Mary Ellen Haggerty on its
volunteer Staff, as the Medical Supervisor for its Ultrasound project (if and
when they get the machine...!!), besides having Mrs. Cindy Alton, a Registered
Sonographer (Ultrasound Technician) with over 20 years of experience. This
information was amply supplied to Supreme's Bill O'Brien in our Application
package!
Dr. Haggerty is a well known Pro-Life Physician with over 30 years of
experience. She was the one that copied us her e-mail exchange with the
Registrar of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, in which he
states that the College has no regulations or interest in the use of Ultrasound
on Pregnant women, AS LONG AS it is NOT used for Diagnostic purposes...!! This
was also included in our Application...
What it means to me: if it is to be used for any kind of diagnostics, then the
College wants to regulate it, to keep it under "their wing" (make
sure it is operated and diagnosed by a qualified Alberta Doctor).
If no diagnostics are done, and it is only used for "viewing", then
the College doesn't get involved at all.
This is PRECISELY why we made sure we ordered the machine from Sonosite in such
a way that it would NOT give any chance to be construed as being POSSIBLY used
for medical diagnostics...!!
But Dr. Haggerty would still be available to advise and supervise the use of
the machine by the EPCC.
I hope you can convey this information to our "extra-careful"
Brethren from the South, so it will allay this part of their concerns!!
Good luck !!
Fraternally.
