Ladies and/or Gentlemen:
March 7th of 2009 the City of Edmonton lost a mentor and a true friend, Vince O’Shea. Vince had been a consultant with Investors Group Financial Services for 40 years and was a role model to everyone he knew because of his generosity, professionalism and extremely warm heart. He is not a man that is easily forgotten as he devoted countless hours to a variety of charities at all different levels.
At the Annual General Meeting of the Edmonton Spinal Cord Research Society held last fall, it was voted on and passed that the society be dissolved. Prior to Vince’s passing the Edmonton Spinal Cord Research Society was struggling to establish a new direction that would enable it to continue raising funds for Spinal Cord Research. This was Vince O’Shea’s number one charity. He devoted countless time and effort to the 5K Walk, Run & Roll, which raised almost 1 Million dollars over the past 12 years.
To keep his legacy alive we decided to create an event that would continue to raise money for the Spinal Cord Society. Vince’s next big passion in life was golf, so it was an easy decision to create a golf tournament in his memory. The event will have an Irish theme and will be a celebration of his Irish heritage.
We are seeking your participation in the first annual Vince O’Shea Memorial Golf Tournament at the Edmonton Golf and Country Club on June 21, 2010 at 1:30pm tee time. We are looking for sponsors, golfers (individuals or teams), donations and volunteers to help support this worthy cause. Charitable tax receipts will be issued accordingly.
All money raised will go directly to spinal cord injury research. Vince envisioned the day when people will be released from wheelchairs utilizing the money he helped raise for this ground breaking research. This event is expected to fill up quickly so please do not delay.
